I recently had a conversation with someone who has been waiting on God for some things. It seems like whenever I speak to them, they say they are believing God, but they aren’t very joyful. I try to encourage them to be hopeful and to look forward to the days ahead. Though it may not be easy to do this, the only alternative is to give up. I don’t want that for me or anyone.
As long as we give our issues and concerns to Christ, He will help us to face tomorrow. Even when there is not much going on or much to be excited about, we can be happy that we have a relationship with Him. It is Jesus Christ who gives us our identity.
He can make our hearts glad. When we know who we are in Him, and we know that He will make sure that we always have what we need, it will help us to understand that He is in control. It is time for us to take the pressure off of ourselves!
We must not put expectations on ourselves to be the one that saves us or fights our battles. It is not our job. It is God’s job.
Like I told my friend, we must take our concerns to the Lord. In the meantime, we can look forward to helping someone else and encouraging someone who needs it. This life is not about us, so we should not throw in the towel when things aren’t like we think they should be.
When we take the focus off of our goals and our dreams and help others to pursue theirs, it can be healing for us. It can help us to gain some perspective about our own lives. This is something I have learned to do in seasons of waiting and anticipating what I am believing God for.
