Maybe, you were raised in church. You went to Sunday School or Vacation Bible School all of your life. Maybe, your parents did buy you a Bible, as a child. This was my experience, but I know and understand that this is not the experience of every Christian.

Contrary to some myths, not every Christian was saved all of their lives. Christianity is not just for certain types of people or those who have a certain upbringing. I know that, and you may know that, but think about how many people don’t believe this fact.

Just think about the people who don’t come to Christ because they are convinced that they don’t have what it takes. None of us have “what it takes”. Only Jesus, and Jesus has already paid the price for us all!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

This is why Christian discipleship is so important and why Christians must help to dispel some of the myths about Christianity. I realize that some believe that Christians have helped to spread these myths, and this may be true. Meanwhile, I am not going to play the blame game.

Instead, I choose to do my part to make changes. I want people to know that their current circumstances are not where they have to end up and that they can choose God’s way. Regardless of how any of us were raised or have lived our lives, we can be redeemed by repenting and confessing our faith in Jesus Christ. None of us are without sin, and all of us need Jesus to change us daily. If we ask Him to, He will.

“For all did sin, and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 3:23

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10:9

After giving our lives to Christ, we can never feel like we have fully arrived. We will always fall short in some area and will always need God’s help to change. This is why we need to daily abide in Christ. Thank God, He never gives up on us, and He never will. Thank God for His grace and mercy!

“Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.”

John 15:4

“Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of works? No, but on that of faith.”

Romans 3:27

Thank God, we have a story to tell of His love. We have victories, in Jesus, to share. Through our testimonies, others can see that God is able to take a broken life and change it for His glory and our good (Romans 8:28). Daily, God is changing His people who seek after Him.

“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:2

In closing, God wants us, now. It is not about where we have been, but it is all about how we finish this life. Let’s all stay in the race, and finish it strong!

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

2 Timothy 4:7
