Have you ever told someone something that might have been hard for them to believe or to accept? Have you ever allowed not being believed to stop you from telling someone an important message? Well, when an angel appeared before Mary Magdalene and Mary (mother of James and John), they were told to tell the disciples that Jesus had risen from the dead.

Not only this, they were told to tell the disciples to go to Galilee, so they could meet Jesus there. Some would have doubted or been afraid to tell this news. Led by the Holy Spirit, the women did not doubt. They believed and were obedient.

Right away, they set out to announce that Jesus was alive. As directed, they gave the disciples this message. Once this message was received, the disciples were able to meet Jesus in Galilee and to be given their own important charge.

During this charge, they were given what we now call the “Great Commission”. Thereafter, the disciples set out to build the Christian faith on the Resurrection of Jesus and the Gospel. As they shared the Gospel, some doubted and did not believe that Christ is risen. Yet, over and over, the disciples told it anyway. In closing, these events show the importance of following God’s directions and the results of what can happen when we allow the Spirit to lead us in doing so.
