“Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.”

1 Peter 315

Have you ever had to represent God without having a chance to collect your thoughts or write anything down? Sometimes, we will be asked to elaborate on our faith at a moment’s notice. If it hasn’t happened to you yet, it will.

For example, when I was a teenager, I had my first experience speaking impromptu. I soon learned that it would not be the last one. Anyway, I was given was a text from one of the leaders of the church.

Basically, I had to come up with a message, from scratch. Like it was yesterday, I remember being asked to give a message to the youth. Of course, it was not how I thought that Sunday afternoon would unfold.

However, I was obedient and trusted in the Savior. Just before I stood in front of the church congregation, my father told me, “Just open your mouth, and God will speak for you.” You know what, He did!

“For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.”

Luke 12:12

By all means, these are very true words.

True enough, God will speak for you, when you allow Him to speak to your heart. Whether you prepare in advance or find yourself in a “be ready” moment (2 Timothy 4:2), allow the Holy Spirit to use you. Finally, staying prayed up and in your Word enables you to hear from God and how He wants you to proceed (Psalm 85:8). Likewise, your relationship with Jesus Christ will give you plenty of experience to “draw” from.
