Today’s post is a short one but an all-important one. Like many of my posts, this one is based on an issue that I am growing in, myself. To facilitate this growth, I look to God. After all, in order to learn, grow, and change, it requires seeking the only One who can do the changing.

With that, today’s post is about changing our words. Even as Christians, we all need help in this area. Let’s face it, we all have said things that we have not been proud of. There is a reason for this.

James 3:6 says that the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity..." Later, in verse 8, we are reminded that we cannot tame our tongue. This is because the tongue is "an unruly evil" and "full of deadly poison".

If you are wondering what can be done about this, Romans 8:1 tells us to “walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”. This means allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us how to conduct our lives. In closing, by allowing the Spirit to change our hearts, we will find that our words will come from a place of love and peace.

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that makes peace. James 3:18
