When Afraid

Some people say that being afraid is okay. It depends on what you do with the fear. If you let the fear keep you from moving forward, anyway, then it is not okay. However, if you move forward past the fear and make up your mind that it won’t stop you, then fear is just fine.

As believers, we can decide to believe that fear is just an emotion that rises up to prevent us from meeting our destiny. We can choose to ignore the voice of fear that says we can’t and won’t make it to where God has for us. We can be determined that, against all odds, we will see the other side and be victorious.

Regardless of what we are afraid of, we can still move forward and be all that God has called us to become. We can do this because we have come to understand that what we fear is never as scary as it seems. We can persevere, when we recognize that fear has held us back and held us down for far too long.

While some people may say that being afraid is okay, check the source. Are they encouraging you to stay in that fear, or are they telling you to not let it stop you? Most importantly, are they telling you their solutions of how to handle fear, or are they pointing you to Jesus and telling you to trust Him over the fear?

For I am the LORD your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you: “Do not fear, I will help you.”
