Have you ever had something on your mind, and someone ended up bringing it to you? Did you ever walk into a store, and the thing you were prepared to look for was right there in front of you? Some might call these coincidences, but why not call it the help of the Holy Spirit?

Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear. Isaiah 65:24

As children of God, we have direct access to the Holy Spirit. This means that whenever we need help, an answer, or a sense of direction, the Holy Spirit will be right there to intervene. Often, He will come when we don’t even realize we needed help. John 14:26 reminds us that the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, will teach us all things and will remind us of everything God wants us to know.

For example, have you ever walked out in your yard, to take care of one thing, and saw something else that needed your attention? Did you start to call someone, and went to a ringing phone with them on the other line? Maybe, there was a time that a nagging problem sent you to the doctor, and your test results revealed something your doctor wasn’t even searching for?

Again, these are often taken as happenstance. Still, it is worth your while to take another look. When you do this, you just may find that what has been happening is more than just happenstance or coincidences. As a result, you may also find what you have sensed all along but were not ready to say out loud. Allow me to give you one final example of how the Holy Spirit can move.

About five years ago, I went into the teacher’s lounge to warm up my lunch. It was around noon. While waiting for my food to finish, I heard these words in my spirit: “Someone is coming in your room today.”

Well, I always did my best to be prepared as an educator. However, I had no idea that someone would be coming in my room that day. I wasn’t due for an observation, but you never know when someone could do a walk-through.

All day long, I curiously waited to see when someone would visit my room. It was a little bit unnerving, but I continued my day in faith. By the end of the day, the moment of truth had come.

To my surprise, there was not only one person that came in my room but four! Specifically, they were all of the administrators and academic coaches, from my building, and the director from Central Office. They were there to observe my Reading To Intervention (RTI) period. Praise be to God, the director was very complimentary.

Had I not listened to the Spirit, who knows how things would have gone? Wisely, I didn’t try to find out! Coincidence? Happenstance? Well, I will let you decide, but I know what the moral of the story is for my life: God is always looking out for His children, because He knows what we need!

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8
