We follow after many things, as people. We follow trends. We follow the advice of other individuals. We even follow our own hearts. However, these things don’t always lead us to the answers we need. Yet, when we follow God’s way, the answers become easier to find.

We can make our own plans, but the LORD gives the right answer.

Proverbs 16:1

While we won’t always make the best decisions, we can keep trying. We can also give our hearts and our deeds to Christ Jesus. He will always lead us to the peace of God. After all, God is peace.

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace--as in all the congregations of the Lord's people. 1 Corinthians 14:33

Along with encouraging us to follow peace, Hebrews 12:14 reminds us to follow holiness. Often, we think of holiness as being complicated. To the contrary, it is not complicated at all.

In fact, whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6. This is holiness, friends. Therefore, as Christians, we must be intentional and vigilant about who and what we are following.

If the things and people we follow don’t encourage peace and don’t promote living like Jesus Christ, are they worth following? Are they what God wants us to follow? These are questions we must answer.

That's why the Scriptures say, "I am the holy God, and you must be holy too." 1 Peter 1:16
