Staying Planted

The Word of God is essential to the life of a Christian. Its importance can be seen in John 1:1. The Word was there in the beginning. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. To know God and His Word, you must first know the Son. When you know the Son, you will grow closer to the Father and His Word.

In John 10:30, Jesus reminds us that He is one with God. Just as Jesus is one with God, Jesus is also one with the Word. For instance, when Jesus came to the earth, He was the Word in the flesh (John 1:14). Because of this, Jesus not only knew the Word, Jesus also used the Word when He taught and ministered to others.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

As His followers, Jesus encourages us to abide in Him and in God’s Word. This is because we can do nothing without Him (John 15:4). For instance, we cannot effectively live our lives, have access to God’s power, or understand God’s Word without a relationship with Jesus. Finally, the more we abide in Jesus, we will become like a tree planted by the rivers of water (Psalm 1:3). Amen.
