Being Patient

How many of you consider yourselves very patient?  Well, I am not always a patient person, but God has taught me how to wait on Him as He puts together the pieces of my life.  With God’s help, I have learned to be at peace when life does not look the way I think it should go.  After all, life is not supposed to go my way, but God’s way.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

As many Christians know, one of the ways that God teaches us patience is by allowing us to wait.  Whether it is waiting for an answer or a solution to a problem, waiting can be uncomfortable.  Yet, it is needed to learn how to have faith in God and to mature in Him.

Of course, this is something that many of us struggle with.  There will be times that we will only surrender certain areas of our lives to God.  Impatiently, we will attempt to hold on to the areas of our lives that we want to handle ourselves.

Instead of waiting on God, we may make things worse.  Often, we put the pieces of our lives in the places God never intended them to go.  Because of His grace, things eventually work out anyway.  Remember, God knows where and how things should go because our lives are designed by Him. The more we understand this, the more we will understand God’s will for us!

And hath made of one, all mankind, to dwell upon the whole face of the earth, determining appointed times, and the limits of their habitation.

Acts 17:26
