It Is Like That, Sometimes

Have you ever wanted to pray but could not?  Have you ever had negative thoughts fill your mind, but you managed to push them away with God’s truth?  Being a Christian does not mean that life will always be peachy.  There will be struggles, but God is always there to help you to the other side of every struggle.  Every.  Single.  One.

Once we get to the other side, we can take a sigh of relief.  We make it through that challenge, but we know another one will be looming.  In some form, trouble finds its way to every doorstep.  Even so, there are things to take solace in.  We can take solace in the fact that there are reasons to rejoice.  Believe it or not, there is always peace, but we need to know how to find it and where to look for it.  Then, in times of a storm, we can count our blessings because we know how to respond well.

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5:18

Responding well is not always easy.  Life is hard.  It can be down-right scary.  Some people do not say this enough, but it is very true.  Even so, we do not have to live focused on the problems or the pain.  We can choose to focus on the problem-solver.  His name is Jesus.

Even in today’s world, we can “keep it real” about the realities of life, not deny them, and still not become bitter or dismayed.  Further, we can be honest about the fact that problems do not stop once we give our lives to Christ.  At the same time, we can admit that problems do not equate with God forgetting about us.  We can decide that problems do not have to stop us from living in faith.  As we know, Jesus tells us that troubles will come in this life and that we should and can trust in Him (John 16:33)

Rather than panicking, we can ask God to help us to respond well.  Responding well can also mean praising God in advance for what we believe He is about to do for us.  We can also recognize that others are also suffering and ask God how to help them meet their needs.  To do all these things, means focusing more on God and His Word.

Though things may look awful and seem insurmountable, it is like that sometimes.  Still, we can respond with steady faith.  Faith is what it takes, when we find it hard to pray.  It is what we can rely on, when our minds are riddled with fear and negativity.  Life may be like that sometimes, but that is not all there is.  There is always a brighter day!
