Main Idea: Summarizing A Story

Thanks for choosing this product. It includes my original story in an example lesson of how to write a summary paragraph for a story or book. You may use your own story or book choice to model this lesson, instead of my example.
2) Included in the directions for this lesson, I use the words “deleting” and “delete” which refers to
getting rid of unimportant details in the first draft summary of the story/book. Feel free to call this
process something else ☺, if you would like.
3) For a fun extension activity, your students may also create their own story, create a first draft, and write a final draft. Option: If other students are not able to write a story, they could help edit another student’s story ☺. ( 12 pages total)
